  • Control System: A control system, such as a NovaStar receiving card, processes the incoming data and manages how the content appears on the screen. This system ensures smooth operation and can be remotely controlled from a computer or video processor for real-time adjustments.

How to Choose the Right LED Display

Selecting the right LED display requires careful consideration of various factors, including pixel pitch, brightness, refresh rate, and waterproofing. Here’s a detailed breakdown:

1. Pixel Pitch

Pixel pitch measures the distance between two adjacent LED lamps, affecting the sharpness of the display. The smaller the pitch, the finer the image resolution. Common pixel pitches include:

  • Indoor Use: P2, P2.5, and P3.91 micro pixel are typical for indoor applications such as event backdrops, corporate presentations, and advertising within controlled environments. For special applications like broadcast studios and control rooms, a pixel pitch below P2 is recommended for enhanced clarity.
  • Outdoor Use: For outdoor displays viewed from a distance, larger pitches such as P6, P8, and P10 suffice. These are commonly used for stadiums, building facades, and large-scale advertising billboards.

Brightness is a critical factor in ensuring that your LED display is visible under different lighting conditions:

  • Outdoor Displays: For outdoor applications, LED displays need a brightness of 4500 nits or higher to be visible even in bright sunlight. This ensures that your display remains legible throughout the day.
  • Indoor Displays: For indoor use, overly bright displays can cause eye strain. Typically, a brightness level of 600-800 nits is sufficient to ensure vivid visuals without overwhelming viewers in a more controlled environment.

3. Refresh Rate

The refresh rate defines how many times per second the image on your LED display is refreshed. Higher refresh rates produce smoother visuals, particularly for fast-moving content:

  • 1920Hz: Although considered entry-level, 1920Hz is rarely recommended unless budget constraints are a concern.
  • 3840Hz: This is the standard refresh rate for most LED displays and strikes a good balance between performance and cost. It is suitable for most use cases, including corporate events and advertising.
